Question #1:

I need help, I'm really desperate right now...!!?

I am almost 13 years old and I am a girl. I weight 174lbs and I am 5ft 5in. I have been either chubby or overweight ever since I was 3 or 4 years old, it is in my genetics, btw. I have been working really hard for a month now and I have only lost 4lbs and that is just recently. I just added exercise a week ago also. I only eat 900-1000 calories a day, sometimes even less than 900 if I get self conscious, which is almost all the time. My parents have no idea about this and I am not going to tell them, they would be no help at all. I know I can do it because my mom even did it. I usually burn about 200 calories a day. Now I am suffering from it, everything just hurts everywhere, and sometimes directly afterwards, I feel like pudding or really numb. I have never cried about anything that's wrong in my life before until now. I also don't want to do this alone, but I don't have a choice. I eat all my food groups and everything. I do my exercise on the wii fit so my parents won't notice anything different, I forgot to mention that. I usually do the 300 min run twice, and I do a full ensemble of yoga and strength training and balance. It's not fair, and I know life isn't fair. I even sound like a whiney brat right now and I am usually not. Can you guys give me anymore tips or improvements for me? I just want it gone really bad. It sickens me to look in the mirror or to take a shower or even in the doctor's office being weighed. Holy Crap! I'll shut up so you guys can answer my question now. Thanks a million and I'll owe you guys at yahoo answers for ages!
a pics of the worst area on my body, I know it is bad, gross, and possibly offending, but I decided to put it, and it is really embarassing:

Please help! I haven't gotten any answers yet...
did I mention I cut out all high salt and all sugary stuff out of my diet? well I did and it's giving me headaches and making me jumpy.

Question #2:

Need some self improvement advice??? please?

I want to start improving my life and my way of thinking.
I have so many ideas and things I want to do with my life but can't seem to get past the thought of it and not actually going through with it. I am extremely lazy, and want to motivate myself to get fit, physically. Go back to school, and I know this sounds dumb but soak up all the knowledge I can. I want to be motivated all the time.
How can I train myself to get to where I want to be? Keep in mind the laziness factor on my part. How do I change my way of thinking?
I have the want just not the motivation to do it.
Any advice is and will be most helpful. Thank you!!

Question #3:

Swimming improvement proof?

I am male, 16 years old. I train 3 times a week (Tuesday Wednesday Friday) indoor pool (1 hour each)
and once open water in a lake on monday (2 hours)

The indoor pool training is quite intense with sessions designed to push us, i generally like to push my self too.

I would like to know if adding more dates and longer training sessions will improve my times and my fitness? How do you know? Can anyone provide proof that more sessions increase fitness or if anyone has swimming related ones that would be brilliant!

Thanks for all answers!

Question #5:

What voice type am I likely to have?

Well, I know you can't actually hear me so it's probably hard to judge for sure, but I'm just curious, really! After trying to teach myself for a short while, I had my first singing lesson earlier this week (thank goodness!) and being quite a tall 19 year old female and speaking at around Bb3, my teacher suggested I'd probably be a mezzo or a contralto before he heard me. Before my lesson, I'd always found going up into the top part of my range quite hard. Turns out I was singing my entire range completely disconnected, vocal cords weren't closing so my voice was weak and airy. He helped me improve this and I suddenly found everything a hell of a lot easier. So, back to the scales with the improvements - it all sounded a lot better and when I got to about C/D5 - F5 he seemed surprised and told me "you have a good soprano voice". The next day when I practiced I played around with it and went up to A5/Bb5 with a full, clear voice. It started sounding thinner and airy at B5 so I left it at that.

So, the thing is, now my voice seems to sound best in my head voice and feels easiest there, which I hear is usually the case with sopranos, but my head voice starts around C#/D5, and I transition from chest to middle voice around E/F4, which I gather is more like a mezzo or a contralto? Or are my low transitions just out of laziness/weakness and will become higher with training? My range is, I think, D3 - Bb5, again quite low, right? I have technically gone up to about D6 before but it wasn't exactly the nicest sound in the world! I'm not sure whether this would change with training, or whether it's something I could only get with whistle register...Like I've said, I also speak in a fairly low tone generally, but I find it can go up to around F4 when I'm not in a self conscious mood!

So, any thoughts would be appreciated, please! Sorry if I've said anything that's incorrect about singing, I'm pretty new to it all. I also know my singing teacher will probably tell me at some point as I progress, but I'm really just curious to hear a few more opinions...

Question #7:

Screaming Cockatoos ?

I am desperately seeking assistance. I have a 5 year old cockatoo, who I have had for almost 3 years. When I first got him it was a rough first 6 months but with extensive training we were able to over come all most all his behavior issues. Things went great until about 9 months ago, I lost my job and my father said he would watch over him while I got my self situated again. Well, I got myself situated again and needless to say I find that he was terribly spoiled, and always got his way. I have had him for a little over 2 months now and have got him almost back to his normal sweet self, except for the screaming. He won't let me leave a room with out ear shattering screaming. Now, as I understand and have read over and over this is typical cockatoo behavior. I have been working with him on a strict schedule, and nothing seems to be working for the screaming. I am very good at ignoring him, even with the screaming, but I have been ignoring his screaming behavior for over a month now, with no improvement. I'm running out of ideas/and sleep. Please, any bird people out there who can help please respond to me. Thanks for listening/reading!

Question #8:

Before deporting illegals, shouldnt we treat them to dance classes, bingo, continental breakfasts, etc?

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are preparing to roll out a series of changes at several privately owned immigration detention centers, including relaxing some security measures for low-risk detainees and offering art classes, bingo and continental breakfast on the weekends.

The changes, detailed in an internal ICE e-mail obtained by the Houston Chronicle, were welcomed by immigrant advocates who have been waiting for the Obama administration to deliver on a promise made in August to overhaul the nation's immigration detention system.

The 28 changes identified in the e-mail range from the superficial to the substantive. In addition to “softening the look of the facility” with hanging plants and offering fresh carrot sticks, ICE will allow for the “free movement” of low-risk detainees, expand visiting hours and provide unmonitored phone lines.

ICE officials said the changes are part of broader efforts to make the immigration detention system less penal and more humane.

But the plans are prompting protests by ICE's union leaders, who say they will jeopardize the safety of agents, guards and detainees and increase the bottom line for taxpayers. Tre Rebstock, president for Local 3332, the ICE union in Houston, likened the changes to creating “an all-inclusive resort” for immigration detainees.

“Our biggest concern is that someone is going to get hurt,” he said, taking particular issue with plans to relax restrictions on the movement of low-risk detainees and efforts to reduce and eliminate pat-down searches.

The changes outlined in the ICE e-mail are planned for nine detention centers owned and operated by Corrections Corporation of America, including the 900-bed Houston Contract Detention Facility on the city's north side.

Some of the changes will be implemented within 30 days; others may take up to six months, said Beth Gibson, ICE's senior counselor to Assistant Secretary John Morton and a leader of the detention reform effort.

Other major changes include:

• Eliminating lockdowns and lights-out for low-risk detainees.

• Allowing visitors to stay as long as they like in a 12-hour period.

• Providing a unit manger so detainees have someone to report problems to other than the guard.

• Allowing low-risk detainees to wear their own clothing or other non-penal attire.

• Providing e-mail access and Internet-based free phone service.

Not about punishment
Gibson said the improvements are part of ICE's efforts to detain immigrants in the least restrictive manner possible while ensuring they leave the country if ordered to do so.

“When people come to our custody, we're detaining them to effect their removal,” Gibson said. “It's about deportation. It's not about punishing people for a crime they committed.”

ICE officials have faced pressure from immigrant advocates and some members of Congress to improve the detention conditions for the roughly 400,000 immigrants it houses annually. The agency has relied on a hodgepodge of more than 250 government-run detention centers, private prisons and local jails to accommodate its growing population — with roughly one in four detainees held in Texas.

At the CCA facilities that have agreed to ICE's changes, detainees will see more variety in their dining hall menus and have self-serve beverage and fresh vegetable bars.

CCA also plans to offer movie nights, bingo, arts and crafts, dance and cooking classes, tutoring and computer training, the e-mail states.

Help I need some to review my essay.

Client Issues, Approaches and Gaps

There are several issues that are facing our consumers at Mental Health Kokua. One of the major issues is for the consumers who are suffering from such illness of schizophrenia, Bi-Polar and nomadic-depression the decline of coverage for medicine and services that were previously covered under med quest. Decline in economy has put a lot of these consumers in dire straight, where to get these services and who can they rely on to fill the gap of no medical coverage for medication.
Due to changes in medical coverage many consumers are no longer able to get those services met. Changes in med-quest deny many consumers of Mental Health Kokua the use of services that are provided at our facility. Today they have no coverage and Mental Health Kokua is seeking to get services for the consumers in there program. Many are still receiving basic needs meet from the agency, such as food, clothing, some sort of housing assistance and help on medication, through Kahi Holomua. Community based case manager with the help of Adult Mental Health Kokua was able to assist these client.
The closing of MHK (Mental Health Kokua) homeless outreach was a major blow to the consumers who are houseless with a severe mental health issue. Many of them used our service to get connected to a psychiatric, finding a bed for a night, assisting in getting some medical attention in regards to sores and infections. The outreach services was the connection to reaching out to those who did not have transportation or unable to come to our door to receive mental health services.
Another is helping the consumer and some of the case managers address the issue of chemical dependency. Many consumers with mental health issues use substance abuse in order to self-medicate themselves, when not doing to well managing there prescribed medications many consumers use substance to feel better. The agency offers various training to the staff one is through Kahi Holomua’s, supervisor Ann Lang teaching them various techniques in identifying clients that are self-medicating themselves through alcohol or illicit drugs. Having these classes or training is making the case manager more efficient in there attempts to help the consumer become social, and productive in there community and contribute to resilience in there own recovery. Empowers the client to be successful in there recovery to live an independent life and manage there medication with a better understanding of the illness and not the self.
Finding community activities that are culturally informative has been an issue. Cultural can be a major issue, being that mental health has never been the norm of many cultural but the staff of Kahi Holomua does a wide variety of functions in the community that keeps the cultural aspect alive. Many activities are based around cultural information we attend arts shows at Maui Art and Cultural Center. Visit museums, walk around in the whaling town of Lahaina, visit the petting zoo in Haiku, and taro patches. Many of our consumers have never been to these places or some have vivid memories of living in that area that we visit. We also attend “Brown Bag”, it is an informative lunch event, and we bring our own lunch. They have a wide variety of topics that are discussed at the presentation Bipolar Illness, Eating Disorder, Postpartum Depression, and Teen Suicide. This event is open to the public, mental health consumers, and families.
In conclusion, MHK works tirelessly advocating for the client improvement, treatment and care on a daily basis with consumers with mental health issues. There maybe some gaps that I could have over looked. MHK still reaches out to those who are at need of there services. Dealing with the issue is only part of the problem helping the consumer is the goal of self-determination, empowering and building socialization instead of isolation. Having the client looking at themselves and not the disorder is the focus that MHK maintains.

Question #14:

Parents relationship help!?

Last year I started dating my girlfriend. I met her my freshman year of college, and she was a senior in the local highschool. Stuff was great between us last year, but once half of the summer passed, we ran into problems. My Dad is a friend not just a father, so i vented to him about the issues. My girlfriend made some choices that even I was upset about, and I ended things with her. The first semester of school started, and we were not together. Her and I talked everything out, and have spent the first two months of this spring semester together. She is in college now, and I have to say that between my improvement on communication and her maturity from going to college, everything has been great. Its lke we can get down to the friendship and love we knew was there. I could not feel more confident or be more happy about what we have.
I am home for spring break, and my Dad and I just got in a fight about my relationship. He said he doesn't trust her, that she is a whore, that I should make the right choice and dump her, that she is out to get me and has a grasp on me, and that he is extremely upset about my choices. He said that our father son relationship is fundamentally different now that I'm back with her.
I spend so much wonderful time with my girl, she respects me, I get plenty of time with friends, we make choices from both sides of the relationship, and I know everything is going in a good direction.
My Dad has cut off people for years. He rarely agrees with any of my relationships or sister's relationships. He has no social friends, and neither does my Mom, outside of work.
I value my relationship with my Dad, but his level of aggression and disapproval with the situation scares me. Im afraid to lose his support as a person. I cannot and will not lose what I have with my girlfriend, she means the world to me. I have a good GPA, im going to Quantico to train to be a Marine Officer, Im self motivated, and every choice I have made in the past five years has been approved and praised by my parents. I don't know why their approval is so conditional, I hate that their love has standards, and that my Dad won't step out of his own shoes for a minute.
I know he is looking out for me, but I am confident I am making the right choice.

HOW DO I BALANCE EVERYTHING, WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY DAD. SHOULD I TELL MY GIRLFRIEND THE SITUATION? I HURT HER BY TELLING HER LAST YEAR THEY DIDNT LIKE HER, I DONT WANT TO DO IT AGAIN, BUT I WANT TO BE HONEST WITH HER. WHAT SHOULD I SAY TO MY DAD, OR SHOULD I JUST SEPERATE THAT PART OF MY LIFE AND LET TIME SHOW THAT I HAVE AN AMAZING GIRL WHO DESERVES TO BE FORGIVEN AND ACCEPTED. I ADMIRE AND LOVE HER SO MUCH. WHAT DO I DO???

Question #16:

Can anyone help me? I need some feedback on my Manga Series!?

Last few times I’ve asked about my series, I was looking for a place to publish it, and what to call it. Now, I just want some feedback on the series. Keep these questions in mind:

What do you think of the Characters?
Which Character(s) are your favorite(s)?
Are there any improvements you would suggest?
Which pair (What couple) do you like best?

If you would like to answer, please at least answer one of those questions. Also, I spent a long while developing these Characters, so feedback on them is what I really need. If you want any more info, there is some more in my previous question. Refer to that if you want.

Now, Here’s a more in-depth description of the series. Last time, I got an E-Mail saying I should better describe it, so here you go:

The series is about a group of ‘Death Gods’ (Or Shinigami, as said in popular Japanese culture). They become Shinigami after they have passed on from the human world- usually, they have had a terrible life, or they have unfinished business in the human world.
Some don’t realize they are dead, and walk the earth as transparent figures. (This is my Series’s explanation for Ghosts, or Paranormal Activity) but those who have embraced their set afterlife can walk the human world as solid figures, though they do have some setbacks- staying for too long in the human world can drain your powers (Or the light-based powers that they have) and can eventually kill you. Therefore, Shinigami staying in the human world usually are there for important business, such as escorting souls into their realm.

Anyways- not all Shinigami are result of angst-filled teens (Since a majority of the Shinigami are teens who overdosed on drugs, got hit by a car, ect. Since many teens aren’t emotionally balanced) some are born- meaning, the Double-Souls. They are said to be the most powerful, since they haven’t been born of human qualities. They are pure power, pure afterlife. When two souls of people who have passed on without feeling- people who have passed in sleep, or elderly who have gently passed on.

Since the merging of these two souls is so uncommon, there are only ten left in their realm (Some could call it ‘Limbo’, meaning between life and death, but it is correctly called Kumori by those who live there. Kumori, when translated back into English, means ‘Shadow’)

These are the three of Ten which the series focuses on:

Tora Kasekabe: (Nationality: Japanese) Has Curly, thick black hair and flawless tanned skin. He has one blue eye and one green eye. He is one of the main captains of the Zenjin (Meaning ‘Saints’) and has his own squad of Seven- Lena, Ei (Also known as Emi), Gavin, Gaijin, Shikon, and Chi, Himself being the Seventh member. He is cocky, confident, and sometimes self-centered and vain, though he is a valuable ally in battle, since he has had the most training since he was born- his first session was when he was twelve hours old, believe it or not.
His two souls are the souls of two twin sisters, both dead on the same day, at 87 years old.
His weapon of choice is a giant war hammer he took from the former captain of his squad, when he passed. Taking it from the grave, he re-painted it so no one would know of his robbery. His nicknames include ‘The Two-Faced Tiger’, ‘Tiger of the Desert’ and ‘Loser/Assface’ (His nicknames from Ei.) His destined age is 24.

Ei Hayai (Nationality: British) Has wavy, shoulder-length brown hair, with bangs covering her right eye (Dark brown) and leaving her left eye (Light Brown) uncovered. She has alabaster skin, paler than a dead person. She likes the color black, and chocolate, so much that she’ll stop a fight if she spots a chocolate bar (In one fight, she is battling someone from the Ryouken in the human world, when she suddenly stops, grabs a chocolate bar from the concession stand, grabs a Shounen Jump magazine, and sits down and starts to read) She is a very Avid reader of Shounen Jump, her favorite Mangas being Bleach and One Piece. When there is a brief glance of her boarding room, you can see piles and piles of old Shounen Jump, up to the ceiling. Her trademark is her ‘666’ ring, something she uses when she unleashes her ‘Fire’ technique, heating the ring and branding the 666 into her dead opponents neck. Her weapon of choice is a giant Scythe, but later on it is broken and she goes for hand-on-hand combat. Her destined age is 18.

Dokuro (Skull): (Nationality: Australian) A man with no name but the one he chose for himself, he has straight black hair, with a few purple tips. He is excellent with motor vehicles, and prefers to battle with a motorcycle helmet on. His has one gray eye and one green one, thought his green one is covered with an eye patch, since Tora almost took it out. When he takes the eyepatch off, he has a scar running over his eye, but both are intact. He is the ‘Pet’ of Kogetsune, leader of the Ryouken (Meaning ‘Hounds’) and is kept on a leash and collar for a long period

Question #17:

Learning a martial art?

Well, I'm interested in learning a martial art, but I'm not sure which to go for. I'm looking for some advice on which ones might be most suitable for me.

Okay, for starters I used to do Judo when I was a kid and if I remember correctly I got as far as the Orange belt (the one just before you have to compete in order to advance, in any case) and I used to do it until I was around 13 or 14. I can't remember why I stopped but I was never very good at it.

I'm not a very athletic person and I don't have much determination. I also have terrible co-ordination and I lack confidence. These problems affect me in many different ways, not just physically.

I'm now 19 years old and a little overweight. I'm very tall (6'6) and I weight about 16 stone (192 pounds). I have very weak arm muscles and poor grip and unfit. Finally, I've never been an especially competitive person but I don't know if this is down to a lack of confidence or simply my personality.

There are various reasons I have become interested in learning a martial art. I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia and ADD a few years back. These affect my concentration, my balance, motor skills and determination in particular. My hope is that by learning a Martial Art I can improve all these things, as well as getting fit. I'm also interested in Japanese culture so I'm mainly thinking about Japanese martial arts but I would consider any other Asian martial arts too. I'm interested in both hand to hand and weapon based systems.

One that looks interesting to me is Kyudo but it seems that the nearest dojo is an hour away from me. I live in Edinburgh in Scotland.

I'm not aiming to become a fantastic fighter, I am primarily interested in self improvement.

NB: As I said, I'm not very athletic, so will I be able to get started without any prior training?
I am aware that they have medicine for ADD, and I take it.

And I assure you that ADD does exist. It is overdiagnosed, perhaps, but it is real.

For example, after taking medicine my school grades went from a C to BBCD in a single year. I also have extreme difficulty driving without the medication.

It doesn't really have anything to do with my question, anyway. Regardless of whether or not you think ADD is real, my main aims are to improve my concentration and motor skills. What Martial Arts are suited to this?
An additional note- I live in the UK where the doctors do not recieve any money from prescribing certain treatments. Hence, they have no motivation to prescribe people with ADD to people who do not need treatment and have no incentive to diagnose a disorder which does not really exist.

I assure you that ADD is a real condition, and I for one am quite offended when people say it "does not exist". I have struggled with it throughout my life, and was only diagnosed at the last second. People who say it "does not exist" are who allowed me to reach that level in the first place and prevent others who suffer from ever recieving treatment, severly limiting their potential.

I'm a University student now. If I had not recieved treatment, I would most likely be unemployed.

Question #18:

Can someone help me with an exercise plan?

Hi my name is Alex, I'm 15 turning 16 in 2 weeks. I've always thought about this since, but lately I realized this is my adolescence, my childhood I don't want to remember myself as an obsessed kid who could have been so much more. So, for my new years resolution and self promised goal to myself, I want to become fitter and actually do the things other teenagers do. So I'm hoping some trainers or experts in this field could help me put together a plan, it will be very much appreciated and WILL NOT be wasted.

When I'm available: I'm really serious about this and my commitment will be unquestionable, but as I'm still schooling I do have to work about my academics. So this when I can't be exercising:
Mon-Fri 9am-3pm Sat 9am-12pm. But keep in mind I do have homework and assessment to complete and the occasional going out with my friends. So I'm thinking some session in the mornings and maybe in the afternoon as well or is that pushing myself too hard too early? Also how much would i need to do if let's say I wanted a fast improvement like say 1-3 months? Or if i wanted to go at a steady but decent pace 3-6 months?

About myself physically: at the moment I weigh 89kg my height is 180cm, the fatty parts of me are at my hamstring and gluteas maximus not sure with the terms sorry, my stomach of course, and surprisingly my arms arn't so bad but i there is some there nonetheless. The only sport i like is tennis but I don't think playing just that will be good enough, I don't think I do enough cardio, but my arms get a decent workout.

My eating habits: Being of Asian culture our one meal that we must have is rice for dinner and other Asian cuisines, personally I don't think it's that unhealthy but when there is a particular dish that is I'll avoid it. For breakfast I sometimes grab in a quick toast, bread with cheese and ham, croissants nothing too unhealthy. However I could go on a cereal diet if it is advised? for lunch I'll have only a pair of sandwiches on weekdays. I know that's not enough but I don't want to eat too much. So for lunch what should i have since i also play 1-2hrs of tennis at break? When I get home from school though I'll usually snack up from biscuits, chips to noodles. I know i must stop this, but for a substitute what should i eat? As for drinks one thing I'll always have is milk a cup of milk in the morning and when i come home from school. Soft drink and candy I don't particularly have much of anyway. But just to be sure as i will start to learn how to count calories, say i eat a fatty meal like Mc Donalds, KFC, drink a can of coke, have a chocolate bar or some ice cream. How much could this set me back in workout sessions?

What i want to achieve is to become 70kg, (lose about 20kg). Increase my stamina and endurance building up my cardio, not too built, but easily lift my body weight. And if it's worthwhile will tennis be a good addition to my plan. I will already be playing tennis at school for about 1-2 hours. I hope this gives an indication of how intense my exercise plan will be.

I would appreciate it if someone could build me up an exercise plan based on the information I just gave. With what food I should eat, how often i should train, what should i train, how long it could take. But any suggestions constructive opinions will be very much appreciated. And links to anyone or site that could help me, or simply any other plan that seems to fit me please share. And if you are really willing to make an effort to help me through this journey please give me an indication and ill contact you. I use MSN and Hotmail.

Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be appreciated and be put to good use!!!!!!!!!

Question #19:

Weight training question.... ?

While doig weights, do you have to work you'r self to the point of delayed pian to make any improvements? The logic behind it would be to do so... I mean, "No pain no gain right?"
and also micro tears in your muscle in order for it to re generate bigger and stronger..

Have I just answerd my own question?

I hope not... I don't want this pain every time I train!

thanks :)

Question #20:

Ways of Self-Improvement?

I have just turned 16 and wish to continue my ambition for life when I am in my 20's and even older, when I am truly a man.
Here is what I have been doing:

Weight training and a good diet regime (11 months in) - physical health and good body image
Continue to excel in my education - Do not need to explain this
Learning a new language - Kind of difficult at my age to absorb a new language but in time, perhaps.
Stay good looking - don't mess up my defined jawline

Any new things I could do that would be of good use in the future?

I apologize if this question is egocentric but I believe others may have their own input for improving one's life and I would like to hear it.
